Wii Fitness Age....

Did a Wii fitness test today on the Wii sports game. Fitness age is 38. However, I am terrible at the bowling, so I think I would have done a little better. To put it in perspective- my 3 year old routinely kicks my ass in Wii bowling and Wii golf. So I guess this isn't so bad.

Counting Down

The date of execution has been set. Jeff and I will both be starting on Sunday, September 7th. I will be taking the next few days to set up the workout area, do my pre-testing, measurements, etc., and setting up the equipment.

This is gonna suck....

Trip To GNC

Went to GNC today to pick up some help for the upcoming death march- I mean workout program. The P90X people try and sell you a bunch of pre and post workout supplements and drinks to siphon off even more money. But you can get higher quality stuff at GNC for the same price or cheaper.

I have picked up the following:

Super Pump 250- Yes I know it has a very funny sounding name. Get over it. It's supposed to rock your world and get you amped during your workouts. I know it has some heavy duty stimulants as well as amino acids and stuff. Sound good to me. This wll be pre-workout drink.

Wheybolic Extreme 60- this will be my post workout shake. It is mostly designer whey protein and some other fun stuff.

Lean Meal Replacement- this is like the Wheybolic Extreme and will be used for in between meals.

My biddy Jeff who is also on the program will be doing some of the same stuff.

Your Order Is On Its Way!

Opened an email at 4:28pm today. It said, "Congratulations! your order is on its way!" And gave me all the details related to the shipment of my P90X. It is guaranteed to be delivered before September 4.

Great.....it's kind of like waiting on death row and watching the clock tick by. Knowing that at anytime after midnight on the day of execution they can end your life. That's how I feel right now. My life is about to be over- I just don't know when. But there will be a lot of pain in my future. Wonderful.....

SettingThe Stage

Just as a side note to my first post-

I'm going to be starting this workout program at a slight disadvantage at first. A week and a half ago I injured my knee in a soccer tournament. Docs said it's a torn medial miniscus, which now means I have tears on the inside of it to match the tears I already had on the posterior side. So I was told to take two weeks off from sports and activities. By the time the P90X arrives, I will have been on the shelf for over two weeks, but I'm sure the knee won't be completely right. Regardless, I'm detemined to push on and get to it. Not to mention my shoulder issues. But I'm still going to kick Jeff's ass!

Here is a photo from that day. I'm in the red (notice the wrap around my right knee).

What The Hell Happened To Me????

As Adam Sandler once mused, "What The Hell Happened To Me?" Well, I sure don't know. Actually I know but I don't want to admit it.

My name is Mike and I'm a 32 guy living with my wife and kids in Bel Air, MD. I used to be a pretty fit individual. I was never "cut up", but I was a two-sport varisty athlete in college and have continued to play soccer ever since. However, in the last 7 years there have been some dramatic changes to my overall fitness level and general appearance- and none of them have been good.

What changes? Let me give you some examples: When I first met my wife in late 2001 I had a 28" waist. Currently I'm wearing pants that are 36" in the waist. I was wearing shirts with collars that were 15.5". Now my 16.5" collared shirts are getting tight. If I don't wear one regularly, I can't button it to wear a tie. AndI won't even go into how much a used to weigh.

My good friend Jeff texted me today rambling on about some crazy workout thing called the P90X. Curosity being what it is, I called him to find out more. After telling me how excited he was to start using it, I decided to take a look for myself. Later we spoke on the phone and he told me he was starting a blog to track his progress. Genius I thought! I told him I'd buy it too and start my own blog and we could push each other a bit. Hence, the birth of this blog.

What do I hope to accomplish? I'm not sure. I'm not happy with how I look or how I feel. I don't expect to get back to looking like I did in college (I don't have the same amount of hair anyway!), but I do feel like I just want to look better and feel better. I have about 5-7 days before the P90X will be arriving, so I'm going to take that time to set some realistic goals. Oh- andI'm going to eat and drink my face off! Gotta do it now!

So check back later true believers- only a few days until the torture begins.....
